Load out DOT monopile for full-scale test Slip Joint
On 25 May the load-out of the DOT monopile took place at the Sif quay-side on Maasvlakte II. The deepwater construction vessel (DCV) Aegir of Heerema Marine Contractors has loaded and installed this special monopile together with the customer Delft Offshore Turbine and their subcontractor CAPE Holland.
The DOT monopile is installed at the Eneco Amalia wind farm. As a partner of the GROW consortium, Sif has had an active role in the development of the Slip Joint, an alternative connection between foundation and offshore wind turbine. The principle of the Slip Joint is that two conical elements are put together. The weight ensures a firm and stable connection.
Both the monopile and the Slip Joint were produced by Sif. The monopile is provided with a unique coating against bacterial growth called antifouling.
